Belarusian Paralympic swimmer Alexei Talai is facing criticism for his involvement in events that support the illegal annexation of Ukrainian territories by Russia. Talai has been accused of organizing competitions with teams competing under the flag of the self-proclaimed "Donetsk People's Republic" (DPR), as well as repeatedly visiting occupied Ukrainian territories, including Crimea and Donetsk.
Talai's actions have been met with widespread condemnation from the international community, with many calling for him to be held accountable for his role in promoting and supporting aggression against Ukraine. His actions are not in line with the values of sportsmanship, fairness, and respect, and have caused harm to the reputation of the Paralympic movement.
